Twitch
Twitch username checker
Check a Twitch username, with the rest of the set in the same search.
Checked alongside your domain and every other platform.
The rules
- 4 to 25 characters — the 4-character floor is unusual, and rules out very short names.
- Letters, numbers and underscores. No full stops, no hyphens.
- The name in the URL is the name people type; the display name only changes its capitalization.
How we check it
Twitch's official Helix API, when the app credentials are configured. With them this is the most reliable check we run.
Without credentials there is no compliant way to ask, so the row says Unknown and links you to the profile rather than scraping around the requirement.
Four characters is the floor
A three-letter name that clears every other platform will fail here. If a short name matters to you, check Twitch before you commit to it anywhere else.
Dormant isn't free
An abandoned channel still holds its name. There is no queue and no way to be next in line.
Common questions
Why does Twitch reject a three-letter name?
Twitch enforces a four-character minimum, which is unusual — most platforms stop at two or three. A very short name that clears everywhere else will fail here, so check Twitch early rather than last.
Can I change a Twitch username later?
Yes, once every 60 days, and the old name is held for a period before it returns to the pool. That is a slower cycle than most platforms, which is another reason to settle the name before you build an audience on it.
Does the display name have to match?
The display name can only differ from the username by capitalization, so the two are effectively the same string. There is no separate vanity layer to hide an awkward handle behind.
