What we collect

Searches

We don't store the names you check. A search runs, results come back, and nothing about the name is written down. We count that a check happened, so we know how busy the site is. The name itself isn’t part of that count and is never sent to a third-party analytics service.

Result links

A results page URL contains the name you searched, because that’s what makes it shareable. If you share one, you’re sharing the name. Those pages are marked noindex so search engines don’t collect them.

Addresses

Rate limiting needs to tell one visitor from another. We do that with a salted, truncated hash of the IP address — we never store the address itself, and the hashes are dropped after a week.

Analytics

First-party and aggregate: counts of checks, results and clicks. No cookies are set for analytics, no cross-site identifiers, and no profiles.

Ads

Where display ads are enabled, they are served by Google AdSense.

• Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site, including the DoubleClick DART cookie.
• That cookie lets Google and its partners serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
• Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads here and set their own cookies, governed by their own policies rather than this one.

You can turn off personalised advertising at Google’s Ads Settings, see how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and opt out of third-party vendors’ cookies at aboutads.info/choices.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, you are asked for consent before any personalised advertising cookie is set, through a consent message that records your choice and lets you change it later.

Ads never appear inside a result row, next to a Register button, or anywhere that could be mistaken for a result. They are always labelled.

The contact form

If you send us a message, we store what you wrote and — only if you choose to give one — your email address, so we can read it and reply. Nothing else is attached to it: not your IP address, not what you searched for, not an identifier of any kind. Messages are kept in the order they arrive and the oldest fall away past five hundred. We don’t use them for anything other than answering you, and we don’t pass them on.

Registrar links

Register buttons pass through our own redirect so the click can be counted, then send you to a registrar. We count the click. We don’t know, and don’t claim to know, whether you bought anything.

Some pages contain Amazon affiliate links, and Amazon may set its own cookies when you click through.

There are none. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to delete.
